Started during maternity leave. One reading journal led to screen-printed creatures, greeting cards, and a small studio in Los Angeles.
I had time, a new baby, and a lot of ideas I wanted to make real. The first thing I published was a reading journal. A way to document every book my son and I read together, so I wouldn't forget any of it.
Then came a paper craft advent book. Then creatures, because my son was deep in a creature phase and I needed to draw them. I dusted off my screen printing skills from college and started printing them onto small notebooks. One thing led to another.
McWu is a small design studio in Los Angeles. Everything here is designed by me and printed in small batches, mostly by hand. I work as an art director by day, and I make these things because I want to own something from start to finish.
I've spent 15 years as an art director. If you want to see that work, it lives at corinamcfaden.com.
If you found something here you like, I'm glad. These were made slowly, with care. For people who notice.
